with 303 electoral votes, florida is still up in the air although the president does have a lead there right now of half of a percentage point. now, it's important to note that obama took nearly every swing state, including colorado, ohio, pennsylvania virginia, and wisconsin. those last three really contributed to his win and to the fact that we were able to call the race relatively early last night. if you remember yesterday, there was speculation that the count could go on for several days in the event of a close race. the popular vote is very close at 50.2% to 48.2, just a difference of two points there but with nearly 100-point spread in the electoral vote, it's really no contest. congressional seats democrats did not gain control of the house, which was to be expected, but they did maintain control of the is that the, picking up seats in indiana and massachusetts, a big win there for elizabeth warren against scott brown. we're still waiting on results from montana and north dakota but departments have the lead right now. the two independents, king from maine and sanders fro

but this campaign has been counting on, quite frankly, florida or virginia to be called and, of course, ohio and they can see all of our coverage and all of the net works talking a lot about ohio but this room, they're politically clued in and knows that this campaign needs ohio. i'm tethered to the broadcast location but i haven't seen any of the top key advisers. they're sort of hunkered down as are the romneys. mitt and ann in a hotel room with the five boys and the grandchildren and paul ryan also here in boston. he's not in the room with the romneys. he and his wife and his mother who has been on the trail with him, they're staying at another hotel here in boston, not far from here but they're watching the returns come in separately. i have reached out to a couple of sources on the campaign and can tell you the night is not over. these states are very close along the east coast, florida, virginia, as i mentioned earlier, they're not ready to certainly concede anything, but they're also not terribly upbeat about the way the night is unfolding. >> to sharyn alfonsi in wisconsin and she's

we think we will be officially the winner in florida. as of right now, total turnout and number of voters has increased in colorado, iowa, minnesota, nevada, north carolina, and wisconsin. it looks like it decreased in 35 of 49 battleground states. the total turnout may be higher in 2008 when all the votes are finally counted. as we planned for, total minority vote share increased to 28%. our coalition turnout, women made up about the same percent of the electorate as in 2008. we got 65% of women voters. for lots of reporting about youth turnout, they continue to turn out and take control of their future. in virginia, we increased our youth percentage. in florida, voting rates increased to 16%, and we got 61% in 2008 and 66% in 2012. african american turnout and support was as high or higher than ever. in ohio, african-americans increased from 11% to 15%. we got somewhere between 9% and 97% in every battleground state. 71% of latino vote, the highest percentage of latino vote since 1996. in florida increase from 14% in 2008 to 17% in 2012. we increased our vote share in florida
